Need to use the ggi for dynamic mesh generation and for the rotating surfaces. Couldn't find the tools in 1.7.0 version i have installed.

Requesting suggestions to solve the problem.

GGI is available in OpenFOAM-1.5-dev. See http://www.extend-project.de/ for more info about OpenFOAM extend and http://openfoam-extend.svn.sourcefor...enfoam-extend/ to get the source code.

Thank you Simon.

As 1.5 dev is an old edition, is there any other better tool integrated into the updated version which can help me in producing the better results?

The model I wanna simulate is a cylinder that includes a rotor with 7 blades placed in a fluid.

Suggestions please..

you may want to check this thread: http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/ope...x-1-5-dev.html for more details on the differences between the dev and official branches of OF. to my knowledge, the 1.5-dev version are not in anyway outdated as they are not really comparable to the "official" 1.5 version released by opencfd.

I already have the 1.7.0 version installed on my system and i would like to install the 1.5 dev version to obtain the additional tools necessary for my simulation.

Please help me in the installation process and also let me know if i need to remove the previous installation (version 1.7.0) and how.

Hello,

just a question are you using a Debian/Ubuntu based Linux?

If so, you might take advantage of Oliver Borm work https://launchpad.net/~cae-team/+archive/ppa

Otherwise you have to compile.

But you can use more than one Version of OpenFoam, you just have to work with an alias to point to the version you want to use

http://openfoamwiki.net/index.php/In...ntal_Variables
add the following line to your ~/.bashrc

alias startOF15="source /usr/lib/OpenFOAM-1.5/etc/bashrc"
alias startOF17 ...

extract from live DVD .bashrc
## OpenFOAM specific settings:
# because of bug: http://bugs.debian.org/576837
export PYTHONPATH=/usr/lib/paraview:${PYTHONPATH}

export CSF_GraphicShr=/usr/lib/libTKOpenGl-6.3.0.so

alias startOF15dev='source /usr/lib/OpenFOAM-1.5-dev/etc/bashrc'
startOF15dev

# source the OpenFOAM aliases (src, tut, sol, ...)
source $WM_PROJECT_DIR/etc/aliases.sh

# create $FOAM_RUN directory
mkdir -p $FOAM_RUN
