temperature boundary condition with heat transfer coefficient
Hi there!
I am sorry for asking such a stupid question, but I invested a lot of time in searching but didn't find the answer: How can I give the temperature field of a solid region in the chtMultiRegionFoam-Solver the trivial boundary condition q = alpha * ( T - T_inf ) ??? I am absolutely sure that this is possible, because this is absolutely one of the most basic boundary conditions when dealing with heat transfer problems! There is a boundary condition "wallHeatTransfer" that seems to do what I want, but it belongs to the thermophysicalProperties-library. I am confused about that, because I thought this library is only used for the fluid regions?!?! If this BC is the way to do that, then what should I write into the thermophysicalProperties-Dictionary? I think treating a solid as an incompressible fluid is a bit strange, isn't it? Thanks for any replies! Greetings Sebastian |
As far as I can tell, the easiest way to do this is to install groovyBC, otherwise you'd have to make your own BC.

Thanks a lot benk!
This solution in fact is a bit more complicated than I expected for such a "standard" boundary condition, but I am happy as long as my simulation runs ;-) I already spent so much time in learning the usage of this chtMultiRegionFoam-Solver, because I currently absolve my internship in a company and have to test OpenFOAM for them. They want me to check out, if the program is usable for a real industrial case like the simulation of heat transfer through a whole pump, but I really think that the lack of documentation will keep OpenFOAM from getting important in real industrial applications! But well, as I said above, thanks a lot for your help! Greetings Sebastian |
