Newbie to OpenFoam - meshing questions
I just found this forum, it seems to be great.

I am very new to OpenFoam and try to understand how to use it. My goal is to simulate a channel with a junction. What I understood so far is, that snappyhexmesh meshes the area around an existing stl-geometry. How can I mesh inside of a geometry represented by a stl-file?

I hope someone can help me :)

In your snappyhexmeshdict is keyword called locationinmesh (? ? ?). The components (? ? ?) must point into the region where the mesh is supposed to be. Moreover, search this forum vi the words snappyhexmesh, stl and locationinmesh; somewhere is the exact procedure posted. I used myself.

Thank you for your response. Happy new year! :)

I am experimenting a little with gmsh and engrid now since the mesh is easy to view that way. Anyway I am having a hard time to generate a mesh and to create a volume mesh in engrid. I wish there would be a step by step tutorial from pre processing to post processing using gmsh, engrid and open foam.
