Hi.

Im trying to solve the interaction between a flexible plate inside a turbulent flow in 2d using pimpleDyMFoam. I want to determine the deformation of the plate from the pressure forces applied to the plate. I've been searching the forums for a while and cant seem to find anything other that deformable mesh generation for solid body motion of the boundaries.

for this specific problem I need to be able to specify the location of the solid-fluid boundary after each time step. HOW DO I DO THAT?

In the dynamic mesh dictonary it seems that only the velocity of the mesh (not the displacement) can be specified and the the velocity specified if for the entire boundary patch. Is that fair to say?

If I can ask, why did you decide to use pimpleDyMFoam solve. Does it have full FSI capability?

I will implement my own FE code for the deformation of the plate.

Specifically start looking at the dynamicFvMesh and dynamicMotionSolverFvMesh classes and their sub-classes. I've only done solid body motion functions myself, so I'm not really sure what's available for point motion.

i did not understand how they implemented FSI (OpenFoam [CFD]<->Code Aster[FEM]),
but i think it goes in the direction you want to use.
