As part of the 6th OpenFOAM Workshop (www.openfoamworkshop.org), we are requesting applications for the position of instructor at OpenFOAM University (OFU).
OFU will provide education for users of the OpenFOAM library, solvers and utilities. Workshop participants will have the opportunity to select 4 classes from a selection of 16 different 90-minute lectures covering a wide-range of topics. If you are interested, please send a 1-paragraph description of your 90-minute lecture/hands-on training/demo to ofw6@openfoamworkshop.org. We are especially interested in educational material that represents extended tutorials, with documentation, for either standard or custom libraries and solvers. It is expected that all material (including custom solvers/utilities/libraries) would be distributed as part of the OpenFOAM-extend project. Instructors will be provided a small honorarium (approximately $500-1000) as a token of appreciation for contributing to the advancement of the OpenFOAM-extend project. Receipt of the honorarium will be based upon review of teaching material by the organizing committee, and agreement by the instructor to distribute material via the OpenFOAM-extend project. The OpenFOAM Workshop, and the training provided, is not approved or endorsed by OpenCFD® Limited, the producer of the OpenFOAM® software and owner of the OpenFOAM® and OpenCFD® trade marks. Greetings Eric,
Given the history about "trademark infringements" done in the past around OpenFOAM(TM), I've got a serious urge to nitpick that the title "OpenFOAM Univerty"... I know it sounds great, analogous to "Autodesk University", but given the thou shalt not use the name of OpenFOAM in vain issue, shouldn't it be something like "University For OpenFOAM Users"? UFOFU And it should cover the definition of "a developer that uses OpenFOAM technology" to be a user as well Either way, too bad I don't have enough experience to an instructor... I hope the workshop can go beyond the targeted goals Good luck! Best regards, Bruno

Not at all! It's just that expectations may vary from person to person, but the goals should be absolute, therefore if things go beyond the goals, people will feel that they have no other option than to say "it was AWESOME"
I'm assuming of course, that the goals are at least reachable

Dear Foamers,
We would like to finalize the curriculum of OFU as soon as possible. Please submit any final proposals for potential classes by 4 March. Even though the agenda "appears" to be full, I am willing to expand the training and move some of the classes to Thursday and juggle the scheduling of the Special Interest Groups. Sincerely, Eric Paterson Quote:
