volume flow through internal hole in the wall
 
hello all,

I want to calculate the volume flow through a hole in the wall that separates two compartments. The wall is not vertical to the whole so I cannot use the sampe surface, because this is a plain, not a circular part of a plain.

Any help is appreciated.

I've never done it, but I've heard you can split your domain in two. The split should be where you want to measure the flow rate. During run, you then connect the two domains using cyclic boundary conditions. Then you can integrate the flux over one of the cyclic patches.

Else, one would just like to define a (oriented) faceSet and simply integrate flux over them... but the above solution is the only one I've heard of.

Thanks Kale for the suggestion. It took me 4 days to get the results, so I am looking for a post processing step to get the volume flow.
Any suggestion?:confused:

workaround found
 
I succeeded in calculating the volumeflow.
For this I used 2 steps:
1) I used the sample utility to calculate a surface
2) in Octave (Mathlab) I limited the surface to the values inside the hole and integrated over this area.
