Hi I was wondering if you can run OpenFOAM from a USB?

Thank you in advance,

A.D.E

Hello,

the image OF1.6-extend from this years OF workshop can be found http://rcc.its.psu.edu/ofw6/ofw6_v8.iso but I do not know how to make a LiveUSBstick from the LiveDVD

maybe CAE Linux http://www.caelinux.com/CMS/ which contains OF as well can be converted into LIVEusb-stick

read the old thread (for the very beginning of this issue)

Hello A.D.E,

I installed Ubuntu on a USB stick (8GB) and then OpenFoam (1.6-ext and 2.0.0), QTOctave, Salome and Eclipse. I run it as a bootable disc without problems.

Best regards,
Wouter

Thank you both for your coments. What I did was to install Ubuntu on my external hard disc and then install the OpenFoam on that. It works perfect. The only thing is that my PC does not automatically boot from the external drive so I have to go through the BIOS set-up but its ok.

Anyhow thank you for your consideration and time and I hope I can be of assistance to you in the future.

Sincerely,

A.D.E
