Does anybody know if its possible to simulate thermal plasma in openFoam?,Iam using fluent but it has many restrictions and difficulties,so i decided to switch to OpenFoam..is it possible to simulate MHD equation in compressible turbulent fluid?thanks

Not from scratch. The MHD solver is laminar and incompressible. You'd have to combine it with a compressible solver (e.g. rhoPimpleFoam) by yourself.

What more do you need? You can see people have done similar work and thus you can try building up on their work, and that there is a special interest group on the extend-project website for people working on exactly the same topic.

Hi,
http://web.student.chalmers.se/group...SlidesOFW5.pdf Numerical modeling of a thermal plasma flow in electric arc welding using OpenFOAM 1.6.x http://web.student.chalmers.se/group...SlidesOFW5.pdf “Simulation of magneto hydrodynamic flows by using an electric potential formulation” if you compare these presentations you will see that implementations differ very much even though they are both on "plasma" |
