I am very interested in doing a simple 2D LES simulation with openFOAM both for learning and having it on my CV. a methane jet with simplest combsution model (EDM) with no radiation and etc, will be ok...but the problem is that i have absolutely no clue how long it will take to converge using my laptop (a typical dual core) or if it is basically possible to do LES with personal computers. I will appriciate it if anyone can give me a rough estimation, 2 days? one week? two week? of-course I'm not looking for a very technical and professional answer... just an indication...
(even if you have any experience with simple LES modeling of non-reactive flows please share...that may help as well)

Thanks a lot

You give way too little information to give you any estimate at all. What is the typical Reynolds number of your jet? Is it confined, is it one phase (methane in methane or methane in air)? Etc.
