Simulating rubber viscosity variation

The curing of rubber is better known as vulcanization, this is a process in which rubber is heated resulting in viscosity changes of the rubber as the molecules react and form bonds (cross-link). When the rubber is initially heated its viscosity decreases and at a certain point it starts to flow, some time after this the viscosity starts to increase (as cross-linking occurs) and the rubber starts to solidify up till the point it is solid rubber.
I am very confused on how to start with a simulation like this and would appreciate any help available from other users within this forum. Are there any standard solvers which I could use to simulate this within OpenFOAM? If you have any information which may help me in any way with this simulation please let me know. Thank you. Hi,
did you read http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/ope...fluidfoam.html Jovani L. Favero implemented Maxwell, Oldroyd-B, Giesekus, PTT linear and exponential, FENE-P, FENE-CR and DCPP. There are others models already implemented but not tested (Pom-Pom, SXPP, DXPP, WM ...). Maybe this contribution can help you |

Thank you for the link, unfortunately it does not contain the curing of the material therefore it can not be used for my simulation.
I now have a better understanding of the problem and I will create a new thread describing the new problem. Last edited by sur4j; November 22, 2013 at 15:42. |
