Hii,
I'm trying to simulate a flash boiling jet of propane in atmosphere with dieselFoam, my geometry is a cylinder of 600*D long and 100*D diameter where D is the diameter of the nozzle. i added a C3H8 file in 0 directory to inject a propane gas, so i have borh gas phase and liquide phase of propane.

the boundary conditions are atmospheric, so i've ambient temperature in the domaine and at the boundaries, also a 233 K for both the gas phase and liquid for the propane, but i don't know what are the condition for the turbulence properties (k, Epsilon, alphat, mut) and yf, yu, Ydefault.

velocity of injector: 52 m/s
velocity of gas phase C3H8: 49.304
T ambient: 298
T C3H8 (both gas and liquid phase): 233 K

The screen below shows better my case:

If you have an idea in what can be the correct and realistic boundary conditions related to the my case I would be very grateful.

Noureddine.

Thank you.

Hi Noureddine,

I am sorry i dont have an answer for your question as i am very new to openFoam as well as cfd in general.

But, i do have a question to ask. I am trying to solve the aachenbomb case with my own geometry as you have done. I dont know how to give the position of my injector in the new geometry to openfoam.

I cannot share the geometry but it is something like the good old time telephone reciever with an injector at the place where one holds the reciever i.e. on the bend (sorry, this is the best i can describe the geometry ). The injector is at an angle (I hope you are getting an idea what it looks like by this description) .

It would be great to get some help from you.

Regards
Abhinay

Look for a keyword called position in the constant/injectorProperties file if you are using dieselFoam. There is also a keyword named direction that give the orientation of the injector.

Hi,

I do know about the injectorprpoerties file. But my question is regarding how can i give the position of my injector in my new geometrry??

The key words position and direction are defined already according to the aachenbomb tutorial. I hope i have made my question clear

Thank you

Regards
Abhinay

The position is based on the global coordinate system of your mesh. The easiest way to see is to open your mesh in ParaFoam and create a point source where you want your injector to be located and then copy the coordinates to the injectorProperties file. The direction vector is normalized, so don't worry about the magnitude, just get the direction right.
