0.org directory bubbleFoam tutorial

Can anyone tell me what the <case directory>0.org directory in the bubbleFoam tute is? It seems to hold the initial conditions of the problem setup, however I thought that initial conditions were stored in the <case directory>/0 folder, this does not appear to be the case for this tute. Can someone please explain this to me I've looked online, in the user guide and cannot find an answer!

hi dear matt
imagine you prepare your case with boundary condition and initial condition, then you run your solver!
then you want for example change mu! (viscosity) and again calculate the whole domain! as you see this progress! is time consuming

instead you can change your first 0 directory into 0.org then use the result of run in upper time step as initial condition. it makes your progress for further simulations faster

In some other cases, when your initial conditions are non-uniform, you will run into problems using the same files if you want to change the mesh because they contain the non-uniform distribution which depends on the number of cells. Then, it is also useful to keep a fresh, completely uniform copy of the BCs and internal fields so that you can run setFields again.

thanks for the reply guys!

So the solver will always use the /0 directory for the initial conditions i.e. /0.org is not used it is simply the first IC's stored if they need to be applied again? As for the previous time-step data in the /0 directory this is simply copied from the time-step directory it is taken from and placed in the /0 folder?

Could this possibly introduce errors if the changing parameters will effect the flow such that given the change it would never have exhibited such fields as used in the new /0 folder?

I hope my questions made sense!!
