draw streamlines on the 2D slice

Hi All,

I use openfoam for my simulation, and then I made a slice over the three-dimensional domain. I would like to use paraview to draw the streamlines on this slice, but it did not work as I expected. I know the icon for streamlines on the tool bar. Did I do any other thing to draw the streamlines? Thank you so much.

Greetings hz283,

The closest thing I can remember is the "surfaceLIC" plugin in ParaView: http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/par...ic-plugin.html

Best regards,
Bruno

I have the same trouble. Isn't it possible to plot streamlines that way at all?

Hi poyilil,

I would do this by first adding a "MaskPoints" filter to the slice/surface and there after apply a "SurfaceVector" filter to the slice/surface. With these two filters you can then create the surface constrained streamlines, by adding a "StreamTracerWithCustomSource" filter with the "SurfaceVector" as input and the "MaskPoints" as seed source. Good luck!

Cheers
