calculate flow rate (artery geometry)

How to calculate volumetric flow rate and mass flow rate in ParaView?

this is my geometry(2 inlets and 1 outlet):

I desire to calculate flow rate in the outlet.
I believe I should use calculator. Can you help me?

Quick answer - Google found me 3 answers by using this search expression:
Code:

site:www.cfd-online.com paraview mass flow

I followed this steps:

HTML Code:

step 1:In filters--->alphabets you select calculator option.

and then a block will be opened in that you select scalars---->U_X or U_Y depending on the direction you want. and name it in the Result array name as flow rate and then click apply.

step 2: and the n select filters---->alphabets----> integrate variables option.

step 3:It will display one window in that you select the variable name you have given flowrate

step 4:Now, filters----->alphabets---->plot selection over time

now click the copy active selction option and then press apply.

Here is the result:

Is this curve(flow rate vs time) correct? For example: In the video, looking the plot at time 0.07 seconds, I have 0.2m³/s, right?

Sorry for some confusion. My english is not the best.

thanks!

Greetings Vitor,

Only today did I finally manage to look into your question.
I took a better look at your video and it seems you've confused a detail regarding what should be selected.
The idea is that you should only select the integrated result, not the result from the calculator.

Attached are the following images (I used the tutorial "incompressible/simpleFoam/pitzDaily" as an example):
  1. The first one shows how to configure the calculator. Notice that the "cell data" is the desired calculation mode, because this gives the most accurate results, since OpenFOAM solves for the centres of the cells. The values at "point data" are interpolated results.
  2. The second shows that what needs to be selected is the line in the interpolated results and the it's advisable that the "cell data" is also selected there.
  3. The third one shows how the "plot selection over time" should be configured. In addition, is shows the difference between having the magnitude of U after being integrated, versus having the integrated "mag(U)".
Best regards,
Bruno
