Plotting streamlines with 2D simulation data
 

Hi,

I have a 2D fluid simulation (using lattice Boltzmann) from which I am trying to plot streamlines. But the some of the streamlines streamlines always appear incomplete. See attached image where some streamlines do not extend to the end of the domain, while some do. I have increased the max. steps and max. streamline length in the StreamTracer Filter, but this does not seem to help. The VTK file of my simulation is shared here:

After a lot of searching, I read that the StreamTracer filter in paraview requires 3D domain and not a 2D domain (even though my velocity vector in the 2D domain has 3 components). I tried following the steps in the following reply to a very similar problem, but ParaView freezes and then crashes at the application of the delaunay 3D filter.

I am using ParaView4.3.1 64-bit on ScientificLinux. Any help would be much appreciated!

I found a solution to my problem of truncated streamlines.
It was as easy as changing the Integrator Type in paraview StreamTracer filter.

i have attached streamlines generated with Integrator type Runge-Kutta 2 and Runge-Kutta 4-5 (default) here. The Runge-Kutta 2 works perfectly with the 2D simulation data that I have.
Thought that others would find this helpful.
