Streamline Rendering Improvement in Paraview
 

Hello,

I'd like to inquire about any methods that can be implemented to use the full potential of local desktop GPU for ParaView (operating version is 5.4). I'm working on a Win10 PC with NVIDIA GTX 1080 GPU. It appears that when generating streamlines, ParaView takes a bit of time to show results. By that I mean about 20 seconds or more per time point (is this normal?). Since I am studying the dynamic (time dependent) fluid flow in a various geometries, I'd like to ideally be able to generate the streamlines faster. I analyze about 100+ time points (it takes more than half hour to play). Of course it is dependent on the number of generated streamlines and the geometry, but comparing the exact same setup on an older computer with dated GPU yields similar results...



When checking the Help>About.. it seems that ParaView does recognize the OpenGL and the graphics card, but the performance is still not significantly improved when generating streamlines.


Any help or insight would be much appreciated.
