snnaveen15 is on a distinguished road
Hi Foamers,
How to use paraview catalyst along with openfoam 6.0, what would be the openfoam write format or does it require any script for run time visualization.
thanks
sn

Quick answer: I'm not sure how ParaView Catalyst works, but I am aware that ESI-OpenCFD have provided an easy connection between OpenFOAM and ParaView Catalyst in the latest OpenFOAM v1806 of their developments: https://www.openfoam.com/releases/op...aview-catalyst

I'm not sure if it's necessary to create the same libraries that they used or if there is another more general way for any OpenFOAM version to connect to ParaView. All of this to say that I'm not aware if OpenFOAM 6 is able to connect to ParaView Catalyst.

A very late followup, but stumbled on this thread while searching the following (rather nice) video showing OpenFOAM with Catalyst:

To answer the original question, to use ParaView/Catalyst with OpenFOAM you will need to use the openfoam.com version(s). There are no files or data being written, all of the data transfer is being handled directly in memory between OpenFOAM and the ParaView libraries. The visualization controls are handled as normal from ParaView, recorded as python scripts that are then invoked during the simulation.
