Hello all--long-time lurker, first-time poster.

I have been using OpenFOAM Version 12 as part of a study for wind flow in an urban environment. I have had no previous issues with ParaView loading cases using the "paraFoam" or "paraview" command. However, since I have updated my system to Windows 11, I have had non-stop issues with the "paraFoam"/"paraview" command returning a "Segmentation fault" error (screenshot attached). I don't know if Win11 is the cause for these sudden issues, but I truly can't imagine what else could have caused this, as ParaView worked beautifully with Win10.

I am running the windAroundBuildings case without any adjustments or alterations. OpenFOAM runs fine. After thorough research through these forums and elsewhere, here is what I have done so far:

  1. LIBGL_SOFTWARE_ALWAYS=1: This worked for a spell, though it didn't last long. I could run paraFoam after running this from the command line, but it won't work anymore.
  2. Updated Ubuntu/graphics card driver: I am using Ubuntu 22.04.5 LTS (GNU/Linux 5.15.167.4-microsoft-standard-WSL2 x86_64) and NVIDIA GeForce MX350. Updating these did nothing.
  3. "touch": Manually creating a .foam file using "touch case.foam" then loading the case in ParaView after opening the PV application works, but the mesh quality was poor when I did this.
  4. Deleted then reinstalled PV: Probably self-explanatory.

I am at my wits' end trying to figure out what I should do. It's caused significant delays in my research; prior to this occurrence, I was making leaps and bounds--what gives?

Thank you in advance, and I hope we can get this figured out.

Hi Kb2002. I can't speak for a solution within paraView, you might try loading the data in Tecplot 360 with a free trial.
