Average values in local areas

Hi everybody,

My question is how can they calculate a average value of p or U , from a local area in a model (VTK - import) in paraview or anywhere else.

for now I can only calculate the average values from the boundarys with patchAverage.

thx for help

Hi all,

I have the same question.
Does someone know how it's possible to calculate with OpenFoam or paraview the mean value of variables on given surface or volume?

Thank you

Eric

Hi Eric!

Have you tried the patchAverage-utility?

Thank you for your answer.

Thank you for your answer.

Actually, the surface i'm interested in is not a patch.
The other solution i have found is to take the integrated value (Integrate Variables in paraview) on the surface and to divide the obtained value by the surface area. It works fine.

Hi Eric,

Did you come up with any other way than using ParaView. I am looking forward for your help.

Thanks in advance

Dear Foamers

This function gives me the value for the velocity in x,y,z direction. This value divided with the area gives the average velocity for the whole area. Is that right?

Best regards :D
