3D Z velocity profile in terms of r in Paraview

Hi All,

It must be late in the day as I am totally blank on how to get a Uz velocity profile as a function of radial position from a 3D simulation. For simplicity, assume the flow is in a pipe. I would like to get the averaged Uz velocity as a function of radial position over the entire length of the pipe so that I have a plot of Uz vs r. How can this be done in paraview? any help would be much appreciated and if I figure this one out I'll post the procedure.

Daniel,

I am having the similar problem, as I am trying to figure out how to measure average radial, angular, and vertical velocity on a mixing tank. I actually used Helyx-OS for preprocessing, and OF-2.3, with MRF steady state.

In paraview I thought of the following process (which I haven't been able to implement):
  1. Making a filled cylinder (with seed points),
  2. Resampling the dataset to that cylinder using its points as seeds
  3. Then exporting that data and calculating the velocities using R or some other software.
Thanks in advance,

Jose
