velocity field for alpha 0 to 0.5 only
 

Hello,

If I have a free surface model, how could I make a velocity field that is only for the fluid and not for air? I see that I can create a contour and contour by an alpha value of 0.5 which will give me the interface of the fluid and air, but could I make a velocity profile for alpha = 0 to 0.5?

I don't know whether this is what you want, but what you could do, is to create an Isovolume of alpha from 0 to 0.5 and cut this via a slice.
the new slice you can color with the velocity.

I'm assuming you want to do this in paraview? Use the threshold filter with alpha 0.5, and then the glyph filter on the resulting data set.
