Navier-Stokes equations in compressible flow
In compressible flow in PHOENICS, the Navier-Stokes equations are resolved before resolving the density by the state equation. But! the density is an Unknown variable in the Navier-Stokes equations.
So, in compressible flow, How the Navier-Stokes equations are resolved before resolving the density by the state equation ? i.e. How the density is estimated in the Navier-Stokes equations before resolving it?

Yes, but you are talking about an iteration sequence, ie. a small part of all solution process.
You should keep in mind that the NS eq. is solved by an iterative process where, in the first itaration, an initial density field (previous time step or initial condition) is placed into the eq. With the calculated velocity field the rest of variable are determined. Following, the density and pressure are reinserted into the NS eq. for the next iteration.
