Dear Farid

As you probably know CHAM is an enterprise directed by Prof. Brian Spalding who had created PHOENICS. Have you asked to them (CHAM personnel)?

The person to contact at CHAM is Peter Spalding (pls@cham.co.uk).

Dear Mr. Malin

Please, answer to Mr. Farid Mechighel; for training on PHOENICS I have my friend and professor Dr. Norberto Fueyo.

Hi,

CHAM offers regular 1-day PHOENICS "Refresher" courses. The next is on 4th July here at CHAM.

There are also 3-day courses which sometimes get extended by a further 2-days for specialist requirements. The next 3-day course commences 12th September.

Other courses are offered regionally by our agents and representatives. I see from your email that you are in France, so for France, please contact Dr Jalil Ouazzani at Arcofluid@pacwan.fr

Of course, individual and on-site training courses can be negotiated.

Yours

Peter Spalding

Dear Mr. Spalding

I am not interested, for the moment, in to take a training course about PHOENICS. I had written to Mr. Malin (who was wrong as you) to indicate him that the person who apparently is interested, according this Forum, is Mr. Farid Mechighel. Please, read the messages in this thread and send him your suggestions.

Besides, the fact that my e-mail ends on FR do not necessarily means that I am in France, it means I am using an account at LMM mail sever which is under the frech domain.

Regards

Kike

Dear Kike,

I am a little puzzled by your recent messages on this topic. It seems that it is you have who misunderstood because the messages placed here by Peter Spalding and myself were for Mechighel Farid and others who may be interested, and not solely for your consumption.

Regards, Michael Malin

It is not quite clear what application you are dealing with, but there are no training courses aimed directly at hyperbolic flows. However, there may be useful on-line documentation and existing library examples. We would need more information on your application area and your precise requirements before identifying any material.

What we can say is that PHOENICS provides an option which extends the conventional PHOENICS parabolic solver so as to handle wholly supersonic flows (hyperbolic) and underexpanded free jets exhausting into subsonic and supersonic free streams.

The PHOENICS parabolic solver differs from that in GENMIX in that accommodates both 3d and 2d problems,it employs primitive variables, it handles two-phase flow (which some versions of GENMIX do), and any grid expansion must be prescribed by the user. Automatic grid expansion would have to be coded by the user in GROUND.

Incidently, there was a hyperbolic version of GENMIX called GENMIX-H that was developed by Professor Spalding's then student Ian Jennions about 20 years ago.

Just a reminder to say that CHAM offers training courses in the use of PHOENICS both here at CHAM, and via its agents worldwide. For information, contact me at CHAM by email: pls@cham.co.uk.

The PHOENICS Conference in Moscow later this year (Sept 23rd to 27th) will include a training programme, workshop & user support sessions - all included within the schedule. Copies of PHOENICS will be provided to participants for this purpose, and for installation onto their own systems thereafter. All you have to do is register and attend.

Contact the Conference Organiser, Mrs S K Stevens, via email: sks894460@aol.com for further details.
