Does anyone know how can i calculate the DRUG COEFFICIENT and the LIFT COEFFICIENT from a wing?

Calculation of forces on bodies is not something that is currently available as a built-in PHOENICS option, but we are hoping to introduce it in the future. There is an unofficial GROUND module that is available to maintained PHOENICS users. However, it would not be too difficult for you to introduce it in the form of GROUND coding: basically just integrating pressure multiplied by area in the appropriate normal direction, and adding up the frictional sources (also taking notice of the direction).

I have earlier requested about generating Nuseelt number form solution. Can you please suggest whether GROUND modules for Nu is avaialble with you. This would really help us. Regards |

I am not sure when and where you made such a request, and so I cannot address your particular problem without more information. I do know that there have been several requests from maintained users for Nusselt number coding from our support team. We have supplied such coding to them, but the coding depends on the flow configuration, and the precise definition of the Nusselt number ( which the user must specify ).
For PHOENICS V3.4, you can put STORE(HTCO) in the Q1 file and this will provide values of the LOCAL heat transfer coefficient in the relevant cells. HTCO can then be used to formulate the LOCAL Nusselt number in GROUND by scaling with the appropriate length scale. The "Engineering" Nusselt can be always be determined by scaling the local Nusselt number with the reference length scale and temperature difference. |
