Hi!
Does anyone know how to change the location where the PHI-file is to be dumped? Due to disk quotas I need to put the large PHI-file on another disk than the one where my home directory is located (and where I run PHOENICS). Olof |

Olof,
Under P V3.5 --- on windows 2000 From VR Editor goto the menu Options --> Then select Change Working Directory I my machine this brings up a list of directories to choose from. Just check that your machine can access the new drive location in a decent time - I have found this to be juct as critical as having a fast processor and lots of ram. Note: I have run p v3.5 to store the phi files on a different hard drive and the run times increased. This is due to my computer setup. I also once, due to hard space probelms, run P 3.5 over the network. Big mistake - I almost killed the network. Lucky for it was over a weekend. |

Leon,
thanks for the advice. However, I run the Linux version of P3.5 via ssh on a remote PC-cluster. Thus, I do not use the VR Editor. Simulations are run via a batch systems where you submit requests for access to cpu:s. Also, what I want to do is run the executable (earexe) in one directory (my home directory) but direct the output to another directory. I'm not sure this is the same thing as what you suggest. Any comments? Anyone else? Olof |

Olof,
Sorry I can not help you as I do not know anything about setting up a phoenics envirnonment as you described. Reading through some of the online documentation for MSDOS based evironments it appears that it maybe possible to what you are talking about. The two areas to looks at are 1) Compling a private version of the executeable ear.exe - and potentially set up the directory structure or 2) In the MSDOS versions it is possible to set up a dos evrinoment where the directory structure is described. c:\phoenics\d_utils\phoepath.bat. Hope this helps. Leon |

Hi, Leon and anyone else who's interested in this thread!
After contacting CHAM support I got the answer that at least for the Linux version of PHOENICS 3.5, there is no way of controlling the location of the PHI-file. It is always output in the working directory. Olof |
