about import CAD file into Pheonic

Hello,

I will set up a cube in Pheonics. There is a round hole (inlet) in the left side wall, I used AutoCAD to draw it and save as .dxf file. But, when I import it into Pheonics, it can't work. So, if there is some special requirements to the geometry generated by AutoCAD? Thank you.

did you check if you saved the dxf as a binary file?i think phoenics takes only dxf binary files

so after typing dxfout, you click on dxf options and you choose binary file.

if the problem insists send me your cad file as *.dwg

at stkarabelas@hotmail.com and i'll fix it

There is a special requirement when setting up the geometry in Autocad. It has something to do with all of the facets need to be greated in the same direction, clockwise I think. There is an example of this in the POLIS tutorial and on the CHAM website.

I also have less problems using the stl format from Autocad. The import to phoenics seems to be a bit easier/ more robust and for at least less likely to give me a head ache.

Hope this helps,

Leon
