Effect of gas exhaust pipe to external environment
 

Dear Sir,

I am dealing with a case demonstrating the effect of a gas exhaust pipe from a building to the external environment. I would like to know is there any similar case in the library?

The result I want to get is smoke movement and temperature contour, and I found that Tutorial 4 "Fire in a room" might be useful, am I correct? My problem is, my source is not fire, and it is gas (or smoke) from an exhaust pipe with certain velocity, should I use an object with type "INLET" and place it besides the building? Or there is a better way to simulate this condition? Can anyone give me some reference case to read?

You can use an INLET to specify the inflow of the exhaust gases together with the inlet temperature. You will also need to solve for the mass fraction of exhaust gas, say C1, which will have a value of unity at the INLET. Strictly, the fluid mixture density is a function of gas composition as well as temperature, but the former can be neglected if it enters in trace amounts.
