Drag and lift on phoenics 2008
Hi all
I am an old/ new phoenics user - got back into phoenics after 10 years:D I admit I haven't yet gone through all of the tutorial but most of them. I am using the 2008 version of phoenics Pursuing automotive shapes investigation as a starter I have imported a flap from autocad, run a couple simulations and am trying to figure out how to obtain the coefficient of lift and drag for it. As I am not willing to fiddle with the informatics and the code itself, I wonder if there is a tutorial catering for this issue or else if there is a simple approach to obtaining CD CL values or the like. Thank you all in advance Gai |
found it!
:D
I have typed drag on the polis PHOENICS ENCYCLOPAEDIA and it said as follows:TR326: VR Object Types and AttributesDrag_lift The Drag_lift object has no attributes. It defines a volume over which a momentum balance will be performed. The pressure, convection and diffusion fluxes are summed over the six faces of the bounding box of the object. The resulting force is printed to the RESULT file if 'Output of forces and moments' has been set to 'On' in the Main Menu - Output panel. I HAVE THEN OPERATED AS FOLLOWS: in the preprocessor: Domain Settings Output Output of forces and moments on blockage [ ON ] Run the simulation and after that in the results list: File open files for editing results scroll down and you may see the following drag coefficients based on total forces: (Cd = Force /(Dynamic head * Normalisation area) Cdx = 3.044463E+23 Cdy = 1.014067E+23 Cdz = 1.930664E+20 PLEASE IF YOU HAVE FOUND THIS USEFUL, DO LET ME KNOW!
