Issues in domain

Hello everybody.

I have been working in Pointwise in order to mesh a 3D IC cylinder. However, I am having issues in creating what seems to be a simple domain, but insists in giving errors. I have a larger semi-circle, which is the intake area, and a smaller one within the larger one, which is the valve rod. The small one has its "diameter" connector coincident with the "diameter" connector of the larger one. I have tried to create two seperate domains, however i always obtain a green domain, which i try to initialize and teh solver does not run. Anyone kind enough to try and explain me what is going on, please?

PS: I am recently new to Pointwise.

Thank you so much in advance!

A picture would help me understand better.

Thank you for your response! A picture of my case is attached here. Hope it is clear enough. The the larger semi-circle is the intake port and the smaller is the rod valve.

In the meanwhile, due to my little knowledge in pointwise, I have been doing some research and I suppose my problem may derive from bad model construction (I am using CATIA). I am not sure about it, however, if You have any advice on IC Engine meshing and a suitable/more adequate way of creating the model would be great. Again, thank you so much for your interest. I have been tearing my hair off with this issue.

PS: I will use Fluent as my solver, just in case it helps in anything :)

Thank you!

The first thing that comes to mind, since you're new to Pointwise, is a reminder that the two "diameter" connectors as you call them cannot be coincident. You need three: the diameter connector of the valve rod and then two others to continue that connector out to the intake diameter.

The general rule in Pointwise is that topology (connectors, domains, blocks) should not overlap.

I managed to correct that issue. Thank you. However, another problem emerged. I divided my cylinder in half since it is symmetrical and I am having problems in creating the block. Do I need to create a surface during the design fase on the symmetrical face?

Thank you for your attention

Yes, you have to mesh the symmetry plane with a domain.

I have managed to solve my problems. Thank you very much for help!
