Hi guys,
we are having some trouble to install the FlexNet licence manager on our system (Opensuse - Linux 64bit). (The instructional video does only show the installation on Windows and maybe we are missing something really stupid...)

I know that it is not a question regarding meshing but maybe sb of you did have some similar problems installing the licence server manager or does know how to install it on Linux. We really would like to work with the trial of Pointwise and need to get the manager installed...

Our problem:
When we are executing our .sh installation file everything works fine until we get to finish the installation - we are not able to access the default "localhost:8080". Now we have been trying to open a port 8080 but it won't work. Also we tried to use another port but this won't work either. Now i really don't know how to install the licence manager to get access to Pointwise..

Is here anybody who installed Pointwise on a Linux distribution especially Opensuse and could give me some advice how to install the FlexNet licence manager?

Thank you very much for your response.
Vanessa

Hello Vanessa,

If you're having trouble with the Flex installation for a Pointwise evaluation, please contact your Pointwise distributor directly and they can help you get everything up and running.

Hi!

It's possible to get pointwise up and running under opensuse leap 42.1. I don't know if it will apply to your distro version but hey it's worth a try.

In fact, you can skip the flexnet license manager installation altogether and install pointwise from their .sh file with sudo. After that, install the missing packages manually (libpng12 was missing in my case). And then, run pointwise from the shell, in my case i kept the original default filepath (replace XX.XXX with your version)

/opt/Pointwise/PointwiseVXX.XXXX/pointwise

and upon opening it will simply prompt you for a license server adress / license file path, type it in and you should be good!

viel Glück,
