Domain extrusion along path causes excessive maximum included angle
 

Hi,

I am using pointwise 17.2 to mesh an interface between two surfaces. One surface is a plate with a dent and another is a wing (see picture 1.) Subsequent SU2 runs of low Re RANS simulations were found to diverge (with settings that were found to work for a very similar arrangement).

Procedure followed:
Initially, I created a domain on the flat plate. Then, to get the desired y+ in the boundary layer of the plate, I extruded the domain along a path (a connector standing up vertically with the desired spacing). Lastly, I flattened the top part of the block with a projection onto a plane.

Issue description:
The extrusion along the path creates elements at the trailing edge where the maximum included angle is 179.9 degrees (see picture 2). By using the grid>solve option (angle control> orthogonal to trailing edge) I was able to reduce the angle to 155 degrees on a cut of the block at the trailing edge in 15 iterations. However using the grid>solve. on the entire block, failed to resolve the issue in 200 iterations.

Is there a way to manually set the rotation of IJK lines as they leave a particular connector?
Is there a preferable way to extrude with a given spacing that does not lead to excessive included angles?
