Meshing Structured Grid
 
Hello guys,
I want to create a structured domain of a 20*20 square with a 0.1 inch circle inside it. How do I create the best mesh. Does it necessarily have to be structured in order to have better quality.
Please help me how to proceed with the grid generation

Hello!

Divide the circle connector into 4 parts (begin from 45 degrees angle with step of 90 degrees) and draw 4 connectors from division points of the circle to the vertices of the square. Then put some points on the new connectors (the number depends on the type of the problem), adjust spacing. The result is structured mesh with 4 domains.

I meshed the circle with OH topology and I tried using this method before, It resulted in high maximum included angle at the connectors joining the circle and the vertices of square. I tried running the solver and the results didnt change much. That is the reason I posted here, if there was some other method or approach or maybe how to better my mesh quality.

The problem with my geometry is the diameter of my circle is just 0.1 inch and the dimensions of square are 20 inches. Moreover the circle is not placed in the exact centre it is eccentric and is at a point (7,10) in the x-y plane

Any more suggestions?

Does the circle stand for wall boundary condition? What about the sides of the square?

The circle is an injector and its interior i suppose
the square is a flat plate and the domain of the square mesh is wall.
Im going to create a structured mesh with the square and circle i defined and extrude it in the y direction to create a block.
This is going to be a 3D simulation
So I was looking for ideas to create a quality structured mesh

Try drawing connectors via Bezier curves - you may vary inclination of the line in the end points this way. Also take a look at the pictures. I think it's a good idea for a mesh type that you need. In the inner side of the circle you may use butterfly topology
