Hello,

I have a simple question.

Is there any way to draw database curve based on the connector??

I know the opposite is possible. (Connectors on database Entities)



The pointwise file consists of only several quilts and models.

I need to get a part of the quilt.

(for example, cylinder geometry consists of two quilts. I need a curve of upper circle of the cylinder)

I don't know how to split the quilt ('split' function is active only for connectors)

Therefore, I am trying to get some idea from the connectors.

You can split a quilt entity, or any other database entity, by using either the Trim By Surfaces/Trim By Curves or Intersect tools.


In your cylinder example, there are likely construction curves that are associated with the creation of the cylinder geometry. They may be hidden. You can display them by using Show Hidden under the View menu. Then you would simply select the curve, and perform whatever action you want with it--you can permanently show it by selecting it and using the Show/Hide toolbar shortcut. You can also export the curve by selecting it and from the File menu choosing Export -> Database...

You may be able to do the same thing by just selecting the quilt's boundaries by turning on the Database Boundaries mask, and selecting the desired quilt's boundaries and isolating them in a new layer, or exporting them...

Thank you for a quick reply.

I attached some screenshots for a better understanding.

As you mentioned, I assume that an original file has construction curves like Figure3.

However, I would like to know how to get the curve (selected curve in Figure 3) when I have the file consisting only quilts and models like Figure 1 and Figure 2.

In my opinion, there is a temporary way to get the curve as you suggested. For example, stretching that cylinder and finding the intersection between that cylinder and the x-y plane defined at the original position. Or, the Trim By Surfaces/Trim By Curves may be available.

But, is there any other methods to restore the curve directly?

In your project shown in Figs. 1 & 2, what does the List Panel show when you toggle on Show Hidden from the View menu?
