Hi,

It is quite a general question.

I have worked on PointWise for 2D applications. I used AutoCAD for geometry after which I imported it to PW and it worked like a charm.

Currently, I am using OpenFOAM and I just need a compatible third-party program. I am going to use Solidworks for 3D Geometry and then generate the mesh with another program.

Is Pointًise the right choice here for importing 3D Geometry and then export the mesh for OpenFOAM, just from your experience?

Thank you.

Pointwise is an excellent option.

Pointwise reads Solidworks files.

Pointwise also has excellent support for exporting OpenFOAM files.

Pro Tip:
To reduce solution times, you will want to run the OF tool renumberMesh on the mesh exported from Pointwise.
