Default Structured 3D mesh for jet in crossflow - how to correctly merge the cylindrical mesh

Hello!
For my Master's thesis I'm trying to correctly mesh the following geometry. The mesh is 3D in reality and not 2D, the picture below is just a simplification.
Using Pointwise I have no troubles in meshing the axisymmetric nozzle for the jet and the tunnel separately, but for this kind of problem the main point is to be able to correctly couple the boundary layer on the nozzle walls with the tunnel boundary layer. So I guess that I can't mesh the geometries one by one and then somehow merge them right? I think that I have to mesh them together to obtain a good coupling between the two geometries, but... How? Can anybody help me sorting this out?

Does the mesh need to be Structured-only? Unstructured-only? Hybrid?

If Unstructured or hybrid is OK, use T-Rex.

If structured-only, others will need to help. But I suspect you will need some OH block topology at the nozzle wall junction.

Is it possible to use T-Rex and have equilateral triangles in the layers? Or maybe hexahedral cells in the BL with smooth transition to tetrahedra?

The short answer is (mostly) yes. The full, nuanced answer is not something easily covered in a forum post.

Check out the T-Rex videos on the Pointwise YouTube channel.

If you have the budget, check out the Pointwise Learning Center.

Of course, Pointwise support is always available via phone or email. Have your customer ID ready when you contact support.
