Propeller Meshing in Gridgen/Pointwise
 

Hi everyone,

I'm a new user on gridgen and pointwise, trying to mesh the propeller.
As seen in the picture that I have just attached; there are three different domain volumes.

Firstly, I meshed the propeller surface, after that while meshing the volume2, gridgen ignored the propeller mesh and it meshed straight through from one surface of volume2 the other one.

Add the propeller surface grid to the block face
 

It looks like the propeller surface grids did not get added to the block face, so they are ignored.

If the propeller surface domains attach to the domains that compose the existing face, then rebuild the block and make sure you include the propeller domains in the block face.

If the propeller surface domains do not attach to the domains that compose the existing face, then add the propeller domains as a second face in the block.

Hi again,

I've solved the first problem another way, but now there is a different problem.
Firstly, I meshed the porpeller and first volume together as you can see in 1.jpg, after that I created second and third volume at pointwise and finished meshing.

When the mesh is imported into Ansys CFX-Pre workbench, what happened is in 3.jpg.
Although the second and third volume were imported, the first volume and propeller were not imported.

What can I do for this situation ?

Select all blocks before exporting
 

Make sure you have selected all the blocks you want to export before going to File, Export, CAE. This can be a little confusing if you used Gridgen before, because Gridgen always exports every block.

Pointwise gives you more flexibility and lets you choose which blocks to export to your CAE solver, but that also means you have to choose which blocks to export. I am guessing you only had one block selected when you exported the grid to Ansys CFX.

Thanks Rick for your help, my mesh contains two bloks and I did selected both of them but it didn't work.

Hmmm, then I am not sure what is causing this. If you can send me the .pw file, I will try to figure out what is causing this.

There is one other thing you can try. Export the blocks one at a time and import them into CFX separately individually to see if there is a problem with one of the blocks.
