Hi,
I had two questions regarding the printer outputs for REEF3D. For context I am running a scour model around a large box like structure. 1. Is there a way to output velocities (all 3 components) at a specific point (designated by x, y and z location). I was trying to see if it was possible in a similar way to how P 50 outputs water surface level data at a specific x, y location. At the moment my work-around is to extract this data from .vtu files in Paraview but this restricts my frequency resolution and results in very large output file sizes. 2. Is it possible to output the maximum change in bed level gauge for a specific region (i.e. with a defined xmin, xmax, ymin, ymax)? Many thanks, Orrin |

Hi Orrin,
1. For this, there are two possibilities: you can either use point probes (P 61) or line probes (P 62). 2. Right now, the maximum scour depth will be the global values. Would scour depth probes following the idea from P 50 for the free surface help? I could implement that. I could also have a look at the idea of having a horizontal window for this, like you explain. By the way, I have been working on improving sediment transport a bit now. If you want to try this, you can get the latest release candidate from GitHub. More to come very soon. Cheers Hans |

Hi Hans,
Thanks for the quick response. 1. My mistake, I'm not sure how I missed that from the user guide! P 61 point probes work perfectly. 2. I am currently also using outputs from P 121 and P 123 which give give bed level 'gauges' or line profiles as appropriate. However the exact location of the maximum scour changes for different wave cases in my simulation, and as such a point gauge (e.g. P 121) is not consistent between different tests. The reason I cannot use the global max bed-change output is because I have two distinct areas of scour which I want to analyse separately. I can workaround this a bit by outputting a large amount of sediment profiles and then post-processing this data in MATLAB, so implementation of a horizontal window is not completely essential for my work, but would definitely make the data outputs tidier and may well be useful for other applications later on. Thanks for the update on the sediment transport model. I'll download the latest release candidate and see how it affects the results. What updates have been made to the code? Many thanks for your help. Orrin |

I will have a look at the scour gages and add the horizontal window for this.
