Hi Team REEF3D,

I would like to use REEF3D in the study of turbulent flow. To start with REEF3D, I would like to ask for some help in setting up a simple case besides the tutorial cases.

The case is used for boundary layer flow simulation, where single phase flow is considered. For the boundary conditions (BC), the bottom one is no-slip wall, while the top one is free slip BC (symmetric plane). In the spanwise direction, periodic BC is used. In the streamwise direction, inlet and outlet BCs are used, where a parabolic velocity profile is prescribed at the inlet, and outflow or convective BC is used at the outlet. By changing the inlet velocity and viscosity of fluid, cases with different Reynolds numbers can be simulated.

I am wondering if I can get some help on setting up input files for DIVEMesh and REEF3D. Thanks in advance if you can help with this.

Kind regards
Yongxin

Hi Yongxin,

At first generate the mesh with DIVEMesh. Here you can use the different C commands to use different boundaries, including periodic BC (C 21-C 23).

In REEF3D, you can refine your inlet/outlet boundaries:
inlet: use inflow (B 60 1) with the desired inflow velocity profiles
outlet: you can use B 75 to select convective outflow condition
