Hello. I am a NTNU-student who is trying to install REEF3D with use of Ubuntu on a Windows system. However i got trouble with the last part called «User Installation: Makefile» in the user-guide. I have downloaded the REEF3D (REEF3D-master.zip) and DIVEMesh (DIVEMesh-master.zip) zip-files from GitHub, but they seem to have a different format than the zip-files in the video installation tutorial provided by Kamath. This leads to an error when trying to runing the «make –j N» command, the error is stated as «make: *** No rule to make target ‘N’. Stop.». The same message appears when command is given both in the REEF3D-master file and in the source (src) file. What am I doing wrong? Hope you can help me to solve the problem.

With best regards
Mikkel Nergård

Hi Mikkel,
Since the installation videos on uploaded to youtube were created, there has been a small change to the organisation of the folders as we moved to a public GitHub repo.
You need to issue the make -j N command right inside the REEF3D/ DIVEMesh folders and not inside the src folder. You will notice that the Makefile now sits outside the src folder (which did not exist previously).
Therefore:
cd REEF3D
make -j N

should help you complete the compilation

Hope that helps

Oh, I see he problem.
N is supposed to be replaced with the number of processes.

Say
make -j 4
(if you have 4 processors)
