Hi REEF3D team,

First of all, thanks for creating REEF3D. It looks really promising for a wide range of (hydrodynamic) applications.

I'm trying to carry out the 'narrow contraction' tutorial, but the default mesh does not seem to be properly generated (see image).

Default control settings:

I had the same problem in version 21.04. I think the freecoor part of DiveMesh is not continued anymore in the current and last version (take a look at the release-notes in GitHub). That is why I think this tutorial is not working anymore.

Hi Rick and Felix,

sorry for the oversight regarding the tutorial case, we will update it. Yes, the freecoor option has been removed. Please use the solid options instead.

Hi Hans,

Thanks for the reply! How would we then generate a non-rectangular mesh (such as a contraction or sloping bottom) without importing an STL file?

Hi Rick,

REEF3D is built around the immersed boundary method, so a rectilinear (optionally non-uniform) mesh is used. Complex structures are simply immersed into the mesh. This make the grid generation process relatively straightforward and enables us to employ high-order methods when solving the governing equations.
