Hi There,

I have been trying to use the sediment transport module but am having trouble visualising the results. I have attached some images from t = 0, t(first sendiment transport) and t final in the simulation. I know the grid is coarse but I am simply trying to demonstrate the module is working properly for my code.

When I visualise the solid (green in the images) it looks as expected. However the topography (orange in the images) seems to start from the ends of the solid and (topo in Paraview) does not match the profile of the object. It appears to show sediment transport as the profile changes however this is obviously incorrect. Is topo the correct variable to try and visualise the bed profile? I had a thought that ST_phi should show the level set for the bed however this does not show anything in paraview.

I have attached the files in case anything am I doing seems obvious an you can think of an easy fix.

Looking forward to hearing back.

Cheers,
Felix

Use S for the object.

Use -ve coordinates in B 10 for the sediment bed such that z=0.0 is the top of the bed.

That should mostly solve your problems

Thanks Arun,

I have changed the object to be defined by S.

I am still unsure what variable to use to visualise the sediment bed in Paraview? Is it topo, ST_phi or something else? Also, how can I visualise this in Paraview using the clipping tool?

I am still unsure of what you mean about using -ve coordinates in B 10. Do you mean to make the bottom of the rectangular NWT a negative coordinate and the 0 point is at the top of the sediment bed?

Thanks for all the help and I look forward to hearing back.
Felix

You can ignore this. No longer needed. You have the right inputs.

Since you have a 2D simulation,
Take a slice on the vtu, take a contour on the slice.
Here topo=0 will give you the sediment bed level set.

As a consequence of only one cell in the y-direction, you get the free surface and the sediment bed represented as lines.

Just for the sake of visualisation you also have the option of applying the contour on the vtu file directly with topo=0 and then expand in the y-direction using Transforming>Scale>y=(say)10 to get a surface.

Curious as to what you plot in your original message?
I was under the wrong impression that you had trouble getting the sediment bed at all, but that is not the case I see now.
Also, you grid size is extremely extremely coarse, but I guess you are just experimenting with visualisation here
