problem in maximum scour depth

Dear REEF3D team and other forum friends.
When I am doing a monopile simulation under pure wave, I found this phenomenon: the maximum scour depth shown in paraview post-processing does not match with the one shown in REEF3D_sedimentlog, and at some times, the difference between them can be up to double, may I know what causes the mismatch between them? What value should I base on?

Looks plausible. The log is exact. The round-off error occur due to the interpolation and contouring in ParaView.

Dear Prof. Hans, is there any way to minimize this error?

valgrinda November 30, 2023 09:29

not really. Is there a need? The difference is very small.

Thanks for your reply. In this case, since the scour depth under pure waves is relatively small, the error becomes more influential on the scour depth after dimensionless processing. So I would like to ask if there is any feasible way to reduce this error or to directly obtain accurate bed information?

Just take the console print out as well as the sediment bed gages, they are accurate.

Can you please share the input control and ctrl files i am not to visualise scour around a monopile. I started using REEF3D recently and it's a steep learning curve can you please help me.
