Extract velocities in FNPF

Hi, Reef3D CFD has an option for writing velocities in a fixed point to file. I want to compare to Reef3D FNPF, but there it is not possible to extract, one has to watch the movie. Is there a way to read the movie file, and get numbers, so that it is possible to compare the velocities from the two programs?

Best regards,

Hei, yes that is sadly currently not possible inside REEF3D.
However it is possible to use ParaView to get the velocity data for a point as a time series. You could place a probe (Filters/Data Analysis/Probe Location) at the position and then plot the data over time using Plot Data Over Time (Filters/Data Analysis/Plot Data Over Time). The resulting graph can then be saved as a .csv, with the value being located in the avg(variable) field.
Hope that helps.

This feature will be part of the upcoming master release 24.02.

That is great!

Now available in the new master 24.02. Also added a new tutorial case for REEF3D::CFD on how to use the probes for the case of 5th-order Stokes waves. See the User Guide, tutorial case 10.9.
