Does the "midPoint" differencing scheme make any difference?

I bet the fluent outlet BC uses a fixed...

The smearing near the outlet is almost certainly a result of the zero gradient outlet condition on velocity and fixed value pressure. Obviously, zero gradient is not a strictly valid outlet condition...
