Prism layer around cylinder

1 Attachment(s)
Hi all,

I am new to STAR CCM and i was trying to mesh a simple geometry of a cylinder in a fluid domain. I could successfully do everything. From geometry to getting refined mesh around wake region.I have used surface remesher, trimmer and prism. I have tried every single value for the prism layer but it just would not come. I tried doing the example cylinder problem and in that when i change the parameters i am able to change the prism too. But this does not happen in my model, its not even appearing. Can anyone please help?I have lost half a day trying to get it. Please guide if you can.

Thanks
Arun

Got it. I had actually kept the symmetry boundary condition as wall. I just changed it to symmetry and it worked. Can anyone please tell me why is it so? I mean i was working on ICEM and FLUENT but never had the boundary condition of a region affecting its meshing. Sorry if its a silly query, i am not able to justify.

Thanks.

Regards
Arun

Just make 2 section plots and you will find out ;-)

Just create this section and look at the mesh. The prism layer goes around the corner and is not visible from the outside.
