Can anybody explain to me what is the volume fraction source and how to define it?
is it a volumetric increase over time?

Probably suggest to check out the guide. If it's a mass/volume source of some kind it can be constant (typically) or variable in time.

I am also trying to add volume fraction source to interFoam.
I found some definition here, but I don't know if to denote this as a mass source or something else.(replacing `fvOptionName`
