cell layer (de)activation

hello,

i wanted to know if it is possible in star to activate/deactivate cell layers depending on the vertex position of a moving mesh (which in turn is moved depending on the pressure)

thanks in advance!

Try to read tutorial 7 and 13 in the STAR-CD tutorials online manual. Goodluck =Ahmed=

Re: cell layer (de)activation

The problem is, that as far as I know, a cell layer can only be (de)activated at a given time (events, you know). As I don't know in advance at what time a certain vertex is going to be at a certain position, I actually don't know when to switch a cell layer on or off. So if it were posible to use for example conditinal events to 'translate' a vertex position to a special time where I could (de)activate a cell layer, that would solve the problem, I guess.

You can set the events according to a prespecified time, position of a coordinate, or prehaps a field pressure. You can get an idea of the events file by editting the file prep.inp in tutorial 7 or 13.

thanks, I'll check on that..

Re: cell layer (de)activation

when set the event, you use command evstep evno , time , specified-time if you use other parameters, such as degree, instand of time, the star can translate the degree into time
