Default starcd GUI (size of the panels)

Hi all,

I'm experiencing a problem with the starcd (v3100a) GUI. I'm trying to run prostar on remote UNIX server from the PC via X-emulator "Go-Global". The problem is that on the 17" screen with rather high resolution, the STAR GUIDE panel (the one without scrollbar) does not fit the screen so that several lower buttons are hidden and I can't use them. Any ideas of how to resize this window, or other remedies to the problem would be highly appreciated.

Yulia.

Thanks a lot for your response.

I've increased the resolution to the maximum available (1152x864) - btw, increasing of the resolution makes things very small and uncomfortable to work with - and it defenitely improved the situation. I mean instead of 60 % of the window I can see now 80%, which still leaves lowermost buttons hidden.

you need a resolution of 1280 x 1024 to to see the full panels. I think, there is no other way. may be you should contact adapco and ask them if there is a workaround.

you should buy a new monitor with 19" minimum, they are not so expensive.

Many thanks. I assume there is really no other way.

Cheers.

One year ago, I met the same problem. It looks like there is no way to solve it, expect you buy a new monitor.

Anyway, you can use commands in the window "output" insteand of pressing the hidden buttons before you get a new monitor.

You may also try to use a "virtual destop", supporting a (virtual) resolution that is higher than the screen resolution. This may be an option of your (windows) graphics driver of an option of the X-emulator. When the mouse reaches the border of the screen, the desktop is automatically scrolled in the corresponding direction.

Sorry, 2nd sentence was not correct: This may be an option of your (windows) graphics driver OR an option of the X-emulator.

Thanks a lot for your comments. I tried this also - to no avail. Apparently, neither windows graphics driver, nor X-emulator do not support this option. Eventually I've found an SGI station with the monitor of required resolution. Thanks again.
