Is it possible to run 4 threads on 2 dual PC? What shell i do? thanks a lot. Michael

this depends on the platform. as far as i know hpc is not available under nt, but under linux there should be no problem.
you have to setup a hpc run with (the gui) prohpc for distributed memory - select 4 cpu's - this means that each pc(-name) should be in the host list two times. then go through the panels following the manual or online help. p.s.: before you can do this you have to install hpc and get licenses for it from cd |

Peter is right in what he says, HPC is available for all Unix platforms but not yet PC. I am doing the PC port for HPC at this very moment (got the first benchmarks completed yesterday and the speed-up: 60% on 2 dual vs single, is worth having). If anyone out there is willing to act as a tester I would be happy to work with them, my experience with PCs is that two supposedly similar machines behave differently depending upon what other software has been installed and so I want to try as many platforms as possible especially those I have not set up and which are not out of the box. The version we are porting is v3150 which is the latest version of STAR-CD. Testers would need to be existing STAR-CD users. |
