does anyone know what happens when I use the high-Re turbulence model and my y+-values are below 30 in some areas ? Is it essential to change the mesh accordingly or are the wall functions simply applied up to y+ = 30 ?

Thanks in advance, Stefan

Re: high-Re-turbulence-model
Hey Stefan!
The wall functions are applied to any wall cell. Depending on your y+ value the viscous sublayer is assumed too thin (y+ < 5) or too thick (y+ > 30), what has effect on the gradients normal to the wall.

Re: high-Re-turbulence-model
Hallo Stefan

In the case of wall shear stress the wall shear stress calculated in a straight pipe is almost constant for y+ values between 20 and 200. Below 20 the wall shear stress increases dramatical.
